What is the children's game Grounders?

Grounders is a popular version of tag played on playgrounds, where the person who is ‘it’ must keep their eyes closed while chasing after the other kids. Once tagged, the grounder and the unlucky child switch roles. This process continues until the children are tired of playing. While being chased, the kids who aren’t currently ‘it’ may not touch the ground. If the person who is ‘it’ suspects that someone is on the ground they can call out “Grounders!” and then open their eyes to see if they caught anyone. If someone was on the Ground when “Grounders!” was called, they switch roles with the current grounder and the game continues.

Grounders takes the traditional formula for the playground game and cranks it up to 11: The number of grounders increases with every person caught; you can defend yourself with magic items and toy guns; the parks never get old, thanks to procedural generation; and you will be able to navigate the playgrounds just like you were a kid again through real time action mechanics.
